Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the Philosophy of CCDC ?

Answer: CCDC believes that each child is unique. All children have their own way of learning and understanding the things around them. We believe that all children should be appreciated for who they are and what they are able to do . We respect their individuality and believe that each child is a unique person who has something great to offer society, especially when they are encouraged to think and feel so.

2. What are the Programs offered ?

Answer: The programs offered in CCDC promote and encourage social interaction with children and adults. It fosters childrens exploration and inquiry, rather than focusing on right answers or right ways to complete a task. Below are the programs integrated in their daily routine: Language arts, Math, Music, Drama, Sports, Computer, Cookery, Art, Dance, Science discovery, Gardening and care of pets, Practical life exercises and a solid English and Chinese program.

3. What makes us different from other Preschools?

Answer: We see each child with a hundred languages. Therefore, every child is treated special. We give high respect to their emotional stability and readiness to learn new things. Our teachers are very well dedicated in knowing each of their students. The manner we prepare our daily activities in order to meet their needs and interest speaks of how much we devote our time for each child. The ambience that we have established in all the centers makes every family feel at home. Theres transparency in school and communication is very open between the parents and the teachers.

4. Isnt too early for our child to go to school?

Answer: If you are able to provide stimulating activities for your child at home and you have a program that can touch on all aspects of his/her development, then there is no need for you to be sending your child to school at a very early age. However, if you do not have the luxury of staying at home to prepare all these for your child, then watching TV and playing alone will not be enough to develop your childs skills and talent. It would be best to put your child in the care of people who can help you bring out the best in your child.

5. What is the classroom ratio?

Answer: Toddler: 2 qualified teacher for a class of 7 to 12.
Nursery: 2 qualified teacher s for a class of 11 to 14
Kinder : 1 qualified teacher for a class of 12 to 15
( in preparation for big school, children must now assert themselves more and be able to do tasks independently )

Note: The size of the class will always depend from the size of the room.

6. Are the kids allowed to have a free time, or is a rigid schedule always imposed?

Answer: CCDC allows the children to warm up early in the morning by providing various activities that will help stimulate the childs interest. Teacher directed activities and child-initiated activities are balanced in our everyday routine.

7. If the child says he isnt ready or doesnt want to do something, what do the teachers do?

Answer: If the child has a consistent habit of not complying with class rules and not joining during class activities then something has to be done about it. Teachers try to find out what interests the child the most and they work around the idea to get him interested in joining the class. However, if the childs behavior drastically alters, or he behaves that way only during a particular period of time, this may be due to some emotional factors and the child should be given time to be alone. He will be constantly invited to join but no force will be applied. The child will be given the chance to participate at his own pace.

8. What age will my child be able to read?

Answer: At CCDC, children are already exposed to the alphabet as early as toddlers. With regards to a specific age when they are able to read this, really depends on the childs readiness and pacing, and we must keep in mind that all children are unique. Some of our kids are able to read at the age of 3, but usually they begin to blend three letter words at age 4, and are advanced readers by the time they graduate in our centers. The moment the child masters the sounds of the alphabet, reading immediately follows.

9. What kind of educational materials do you use?

Answer: We only use the best and safest educational materials. We buy international products like Lakeshore, one of Americas best suppliers of educational materials. We also have a lot of manipulative to enhance their multi sensory skills like the Montessori materials which we order from Malaysia. We have a complete range of materials for varying levels from ages 1-7 years old.

10. How do you communicate a childs progress?

Answer: We have several ways of communicating to parents their childs progress. The teachers and the Directress are always ready to welcome parents in the morning and if a parent has time, a short chat is entertained. This is same when picking up their kids.
We also have our website, where they are constantly informed of whats going on in school. So even if they are on a holiday, they can easily log on to the website
( which has a secure password ) and see whats going on in the class, and at the same time this allows the parents to reinforce the lessons at home.
We also have a Parent Teacher Conference, which is scheduled twice a year. Parents are given a comprehensive report of their childs development every quarter. And of course, we have our annual picture gallery that showcases the places theyve been to and activities or events they had for the whole year. But most of all, we have a portfolio wherein the childs learning journey is well documented. It is hand picked by the children and the teacher has well noted the story behind each activity they have had.

11. What is the educational background of your teachers?

Answer: Our teachers have secured their license to teach and are graduates of: Education, Psychology, Social Science, Fine Arts, Nutrition, Business, Nursing, and Mass Communication from reputable schools. Some are with masteral degree in Education, Special Education, and Family life and Child Development. We like to have a variety of fields in the team, and in this way each is able to contribute something new to the development of the school.

12. How involved are the parents?

Answers: From the moment the parents fill out the registration form they have indirectly committed themselves to be a partner in their childs learning journey. We believe that parents are still the best teacher for their children.
Children feel very proud to see their parents involved not just in any school activities but to spend some time away from work and team up with his teacher. We always consider our parents as one of our resource person aside from inviting experts in helping the children learn about the topic they discuss in their respective classrooms. We work closely with them, that we encourage their active participation through sharing their hidden talents, planning with the teaching staff with some school event like the Family Day and the like.

13. Will my child be accepted in any primary school I want to put him to?

Answer: Absolutely! The objectives we have for our Kinder level is at par for the Preparatory level of other schools. We are proud to say that our children are not only academically competitive but are also well-rounded students who have the confidence to face the challenges they encounter in a big school.

14. What are the schools that your graduates go to?

Answer: For children who are going to local schools: Ateneo, Xavier, ICA, St. Paul, La Salle San Agustin, Poveda, Grace, and UNO
For International Schools: British School, International School of Manila, Beacon and Brent

15. Do you accept children with special needs?

Answer: We do accept children for mainstreaming. This means that other people who specialize in that childs particular special need should be working hand in hand with us. The childrens exposure to our center is mainly for socialization with the regular kids. This is also true for those children who are already with us and just discovered that they have a special need. CCDC does not discriminate any child. We are fully aware of our limitations and acknowledge the importance of other field experts to intercede in the childs learning process. We are confident that any child will benefit from the kind of environment that we have in CCDC.
